Learn with Chiara
Italian, Latin and Ancient Greek tutoring
Ciao!
I'm Chiara and I offer online tutoring in Italian, Latin and Ancient Greek at different levels.
Whether you have an exam to prepare, need help at school or would simply love to learn more about these languages and cultures, you're in the right place.
What can I teach you?
Flexible schedules
Flexible schedule around our availability and needs. For long term programs we would normally choose a regular time that we can adapt or change week by week if necessary.
Learn from anywhere
All you need is an internet connection and your laptop (or your phone sometimes). So if you travel often, or simply can't find any tutor where you live, online tutoring could be the solution for you.
Lessons plans tailored to you
This is no fixed course for all students. This is a 1:1 journey that we can tailor to your goals and needs. This is why we will also talk about study methods and learning styles to understand what works best for you. If you're not sure we can also work on it together, so you find out what works for you and apply also in other subjects.
I'm a native Italian speaker, with a strong passion for languages, literature and Classics.
I've studied in Italy, Germany (international school) and the UK, therefore being exposed to different teaching methods, which allows me to adapt my own teaching to different students and topics.
I truly believe in the importance to find the right learning style: everyone learns and assimilates information in different ways. Sometimes not being aware of our own learning style or not having the support or material needed to apply it, can create obstacles along our studies.
I started tutoring privately in 2017, both online and face to face, to a wide range of people, from 8 years old kids to experienced professionals. What I love the most is the possibility to share my knowledge (and hopefully my passion for the subjects I teach).
(Beginners to advanced, experienced with independent study and IB preparation - Italian B and SSST Italian A Lit. course)
Italian is the most fascinating languages I know (and I'm not saying this just because it's my mother tongue). There are many reasons to choose to study this language: art, history, literature, music, food, fashion, travel and more. The Italian culture is extremely rich (Italy is the country with the highest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites), which makes studying Italian itself interesting and useful.
Italian, however, can also be a difficult language to learn for some: this is why when learning Italian together we will make sure to create the right balance between the grammar of the language and the practical usage, so you can master the language.
If you already speak Italian, you might also be interested in learning more about our literature: when it comes to the Italian language and literature, more than in any other languages, you can see how the two are intertwined, and how literature, developing almost directly from the classics, has shaped our language and modern culture. A heritage that is still very much alive in the way we speak (and think) today.

I could probably talk for hours about the importance of studying Latin and Greek. These two languages, considered "dead" by many, form the basis of most Western languages. These two cultures and their history and literature, the basis of the European culture.
But they're not just an amazing tool to understand our present. I also find the exercise of studying them extremely useful, whatever your career might end up being: a gym for the brain. Learning to translate Latin and Greek teaches you analytical skills, attention to details, as well as communication skills and more. In fact while you're translating a text, communicating (and often learning about history, philosophy or poetry), you need to analyse it in a quite mathematical way, forcing your brain to work on multiple levels.

What people say about me
"Luckily for me, I was searching for a GCSE Latin tutor and happened to come across Chiara. Her dedication to my success, enthusiasm and general strategic yet personal approach to my learning massively helped me to achieve top grades that I could only have dreamed about- straight A*s at A level.
Having spurred on such a desire to learn with her constant support we continued on to a level, where she also helped me with Ancient Greek, Italian and going so far as to teach me Latin literature in Italian.
Yet again, I achieved top grades and as her student for four years I can wholeheartedly say that I fully recommend Chiara as a tutor- she has helped me develop my curiosity as a student in an enjoyable and well- educated manner"
- Viola (Latin, Greek and Italian student, UK)
What people say about me
"Working with Chiara was the best possible thing that has ever happened for my Italian. I started the IB with an A2 level at best, and Chiara has helped me to reach a C1 level today - she is truly a miracle worker. Her undying enthusiasm and positive attitude takes our lessons to a greater level, as her optimism transmits itself even over a video call and has instilled in me a love for learning this language.
Chiara’s patience, kindness and passion for languages and teaching become evident within moments of meeting her, and these characteristics are fully supported by the time and effort she puts into structuring the lessons based on a students’ individual needs. Her lessons were engaging and very useful and are the sole reason I am predicted a 7 in my IB Italian B HL class.
I recommend Chiara from the bottom of my heart to anyone who wishes to learn or improve in a language."
- Ksenia (IB Italian B HL student, Switzerland)
